Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
The addition of high speed, reliable computers has drastically reduced the down time and has helped alleviate or in some cases eliminate the wait times for patrons to use the computers. The libraries are providing this essential access to their communities as residents are looking for employment, checking e-mail, and working on assignments. The upgraded servers have resulted in increased connectivity and cybersecurity. The self-check stations have provided greater independence and encouraged more library use by patrons. Upgraded security measures has decreased theft of library materials.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
For many patrons, the public library is their go-to place for technology access, education, and recreation. Having upgraded equipment available for the public (as well as making circulation tasks easier) benefits both the public and the library staff.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
These libraries are located in 19 counties across the state and serve communities of varying sizes. This has enabled them showcase their services to all residents and local officials which will illustrate the libraries' vital role in their communities. Based on the high usage of the new equipment by patrons, it is apparent that the libraries were aware of what their community needs are and are actively trying to meet them. They are lifelines in their communities and provide not only direct services but also serve as gathering places for residents to use.
