Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
As kits and bags arrived, the Adult Services employees assembled the kits and sent them to the Cataloging & Processing Department so they could be added to the Library’s ILS and be ready for checkout. During this time, the Communications Department designed flyers and graphics to use in social media and in branches to promote the Memory Kits. On June 1, the kits began circulating, and in the last week of July, we surveyed the library workforce to get their feedback on the acquisition of the Memory Kits.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
Since adding the Memory Kits in June, they have circulated 98 times and each kit has double-digit holds, demonstrating that there is a patron need for these types of resources to engage adults and address cognitive decline. Eighty-nine library employees responded to the Library Content (acquisition and creation activities only) Survey, and 74% of respondents agree or strongly agree that the Memory Kits are meeting library needs.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
The Youth Services Department has pretty extensive experience with circulating kits of many types for children & families. By learning from each other, the Adult Services Department was able to hit the ground running on this quick grant project and launch kits for adults with relative ease.
