Abstract: The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) is home to the state's Center for the Book. Established in 1987, the Texas Center for the Book (TCFB) seeks to stimulate public interest in books, reading, literacy and libraries, while celebrating the written word and literary heritage of Texas. Funding supported hiring contract staff and provided administrative software for the Center to sponsor a statewide program for school students, Letters About Literature. The software facilitated the submission of 281 applications.

Activity Details
Title: Letters About Literature
Narrative: TSLAC funded the work of one contractor to administer the Letters About Literature program. The program is a reading and writing contest targeted to 4th-12th graders. TSLAC also funded the administrative software for the program and the rental of a booth scanner for use with visitors at the Texas Library Association annual conference.
