Start Date: 07/01/2022
End Date: 06/30/2023
Abstract: Information Nevada is a Statewide Initiative dating back to at least 1989 that supports equitable information access within the state. A critical part of the program is to provide support for postage for libraries that demonstrate need for Interlibrary Loan (ILL) postage costs. Reimbursement is capped at $2,000 per library. Title: ILL Postage Support
Narrative: Information Nevada is a Statewide Initiative dating back to at least 1989 that supports equitable information access within the state. A critical part of the program is to provide support for postage for libraries that demonstrate need for Interlibrary Loan (ILL) postage costs. To participate, the library director or library board must submit a letter on letterhead to the LSTA Coordinator indicating the budget is not able to cover all the postage costs related to sending and/or returning items within ILL. Libraries then may request reimbursement for postage expenditures once a quarter.
Intent: Improve users’ ability to obtain and/or use information resources.

Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
It is a basic responsibility of each library to satisfy the information needs of its service population, yet many library users have information needs that are beyond the resources of their local libraries. This project recognizes that libraries are not able to have all the information sources that their patrons might need or want. Resources-sharing programs, like Information Nevada, step into this information gap to facilitate the sharing of books and information from one library to another.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
Cooperation through interlibrary loan services makes it possible for each local library to satisfy a greater portion of its users' needs but is not meant to replace local responsibility.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
We promote this project though direct emails and during library consultations. Through verbal feedback, the project manager has learned that more libraries do not participate because postage is a budget item that quite a few cities and counties will fund.
