Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
he cooking classes continue to receive positive feedback. In the Kids in the Kitchen class, 90% of the participants either agreed or strongly agreed to all of the survey questions. This class series continues to fill up completely with a strong attendance rate. In the butter making class, there was one outlier patron that answered “strongly disagree” to everything. In total 90% of participants also agreed or strongly agreed to all survey questions. The library will continue in the future to provide sewing classes even post-grant period. While the library saw registration fill up fast but had low attendance in the previous quarters, the month of June followed differently. Full attendance was recorded and patrons asked for more classes in the future months. This could be attributed to different audiences that visit the library during the summer than other months. Crafting classes utilizing grant-funded resources continue to do well. 100% of the attendees indicated that they would be able to utilize the skills they learned in their personal lives.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
Not applicable.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
As the library plans and promotes programs six months in advance to include them in the city’s printed recreation guide, it can be difficult to plan programs and events around volunteer schedules. Staff members have decided to promote certain programs in-house, like sewing or others that rely on volunteers to teach. This will allow staff and the library the opportunity to provide more of these programs by working with our volunteers closer to the date. Additionally, in the future, staff are looking to revamp the VR for Beginners program by adding a switch gaming component. The hope is to attract more participants by having a different gaming system available while patrons take turns using the VR headset. Q4 also further confirmed that Monthly Maker Moments was not as successful as originally anticipated. Therefore, in the future, maker equipment is planned to be used for specific programming instead of “open maker time”. Library staff stretched their creative bones through this grant year by creating and implementing brand new programs while also partnering with several first-time community partners. Moving forward, staff will be able to utilize equipment from this grant to continue integrating creative and educational programming for the Mansfield community.
