Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
SUM participants complete a pre-survey one week before the in-person workshop began and a post survey on the last day of the in-person workshop. Survey questions asked participants to rate their level of confidence in completing a variety of library director activities (e.g., organizing library materials, creating policies, knowledge of the laws, regulations and principles governing public libraries). Post survey results recorded a 92% positive change in participant's confidence in knowledge of the laws, regulations and principles governing public libraires, a 75% positive change in participant's confidence on creating policies for their library, and a 67% positive change in their confidence meeting requirements of the Public Library Assistance Grant and the grant process. Post survey results also recorded a 64% positive increase in participant's confidence in weeding their library collection, a 26% positive change in their confidence making their collection relevant and useful for the community, a 28% positive increase in participant's confidence in using internet resources to answer questions for patrons and a 22% positive change in participant's confidence increasing the visibility of the library, its programs, and services.
