Abstract: From sub-recipient: While we did not see a large impact in our community due to Covid 19, our library saw a drastic drop in visits during the pandemic period. Families stopped taking their children out and the elderly patrons stopped coming in. Our goal was, both, to let people know we are a safe place to go and to provide resources to our patrons who were impacted in other ways by Covid. Our purchase of a sanitation station was the most Covid-centric part of our purchase. Having a dedicated stand by the entrance with plenty of supplies has been a comfort for many who have come in. Our other purchases were beneficial to support our efforts to be welcoming and low risk. Replacing some of our children’s shelving with non-porous shelves that are easily cleaned and sanitized, providing outdoor seating for patrons to access our wifi, and movable room partitions that allow people/groups of people to come in to meet, read and study with a barrier between them and others in the building has been helpful. Security cameras have also allowed patrons a sense of physical security to be able to sit outside at any time, while also protecting our property from potential theft or vandalism. Since implementing these additions to our library we have seen our numbers come back up to above what they had been recorded in years past.

Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
From sub-recipient: Our expected outcomes to purchase items that would create a more welcoming environment for our patrons
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
From sub-recipient: I feel like our actual outcome was successful. Our primary concern was the overwhelming feedback from our community survey that the library was outdated and unwelcoming. The addition of a bike rack and outdoor seating has been well received. The security cameras have been a reassurance even in our relatively safe community. new furniture and dividers have given our outdated facility the beginning of the facelift it deserves. The sanitation station has been appreciated by our high risk patrons who are glad we have decided to make it a permanent part of our facility.
