Abstract: From sub-recipient: Our library was able to accomplish many projects to help the community safely enjoy our premises during the COVID pandemic. The biggest goal is to provide more seating areas for distancing. We collaborated with our High School Industrial Arts class, the students welded and painted two 3 person benches for outside seating on our lawn. This creates sitting for many people in our community, children picked up and dropped off in front of our building during the school year during downtown celebrations, many activities happen around the library property and for anyone wanting to enjoy being outside. Two leather, over-sized chairs on casters with attached swivel tables were purchased for the teen area, which can easily be moved anywhere you would like to sit. Three new office chairs have been added to the computer lab for easier use of the computer keyboards and counters and being able to move anywhere you feel safe being. Added to the inside seating three movable side tables were purchased to go along with all the new seating. An outside coffee table was purchased to be used with our concrete benches on our back patio. All this new seating makes for a safer environment for our community’s use of our library. The Educational Backpack Reading Program was created, along with the help of the Chappell Friends of the Library organization. Themed backpacks were purchased, including educational games, toys, and puzzles. Each backpack will contain books, educational toys, games or puzzle, education worksheets, a craft and costumes to spark your imagination. Backpacks will be checked out just like you would a book, but the kids will get so much more to keep their minds busy and learning. This program was designed to be easy for anyone to grab and go during this difficult time of social distancing and schools being closed. Every item can be reused in other areas to best utilize the use of items. This program can be reorganized to use for any age group that is in need of this type of program. Two Makey Makey Educational STEM kit were added to the library to aid in the school system and Deuel County 4-H STEM programs, to help our community children strive during this difficult time of limited education opportunities.New books and E-books were purchased that our library would not otherwise be able to afford. They help round out our collection in areas that were lacking in availability choices for the community. By adding the new books and E-books the library can offer the community more updated reading material and easier usage options during COVID.

Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
From sub-recipient: All three of our projects have had a positive outcome, the community has already been enjoying all the new seating around the library. The seating project has turned out exactly as we planned. It has enabled the community to enjoy coming to the library with safer distancing options. The Educational Backpack Reading Program has been an even bigger hit than we anticipated. Adults in the community like that they can stop by the library and grab an already to go fun educational packed bag, allowing for quick check out. This way they can be in and out in minutes, without having to be in the building very long if they choose. A more diverse E- book selection helps those people who enjoy reading but can’t find the time and need to be able to listen to books. Being able to provide many reading options and more ways to enjoy a book is always a big benefit to our small community. We believe we have accomplished helping our community’s needs at the library to help thru COVID and the new way of life we are all living.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
