Title: Delaware Libraries Social Infrastructure & Social Innovation
State Project Code:
Start Date: 10/01/2019
End Date: 09/30/2021
Abstract: The goal of Delaware Libraries Social Infrastructure and Social Innovation (SI) is to triage, clarify, and strengthen partnerships in Delaware’s social infrastructure to help Delawareans take the next steps in achieving their potential.
The pandemic required the SI Team to continue working on ways to help patrons in creative ways, since many libraries were only offering curbside and limited hours for all of 2020. We continued our online job and essential needs appointment services, and essential needs interns worked outside at libraries that weren’t open to the public.  On July 6, 2020, several libraries in Sussex County opened, and we were there in force, not only with our essential needs interns but also with our partners. WiFi had already been extended to the library parking lots, then Chromebooks and hotspots were added to library circulation. We worked on virtual programming with our partners -
Delaware Money School, University of Delaware Cooperative Extension, legal partners, and more.  In May 2021 we officially launched Delaware Libraries Telehealth Kiosks in three libraries in Sussex County, with plans to expand statewide.  Delaware is the first to provide library-led statewide telehealth services.
