Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
Advertising assists: tying Tumblebooks to the Summer Reading Program gave younger readers an opportunity for 24/7 book access and also represented primary summer use of the grant provided product. Users prefer more recent equipment (as provided by the grant) over older hand-me-down library equipment. Hotspots require unexpected handling, from meeting CIPA requirements through user expectation through limited numbers available through the vagaries of local terrain through working with vendors. Circulation was a relatively late activity based on items purchased (tending spring 2021) as well as disruptions of service through the pandemic and local wildfires. The number of direct, educational/job assistance applicants was unexpectedly small. The library only funded two individuals.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
Issues of logistics and public communication are make and break for a given project.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
Advertise. Tie prospective applications to existing services or projects. Collect and meet user requests for products, services, or applications, especially those that tend to be multi-requested over time. Do sufficient groundwork in determining local interest, local need, resource requirements from the library and the practicalities of use. This includes general things such as number of items per number of users, item management as well as the unforeseen. Red Feather Lakes Library had to contend working with specific vendors per specific devices per varying service contracts, grant restrictions, federal use requirements (CIPA) and so forth.
