General Information
Title: Transformando el conocimiento con la alfabetización digital
State Project Code: BIBLIO19-021
Start Date: 08/29/2019
End Date: 03/30/2021
Abstract: The Library Services Program, through the school library, collaborates with the teaching process using different methods, including the use of technology to reinforce the learning skills of the student body.  The inclusion of technological tools has been shown to allow the creation of a learning environment in which students can reinforce skills and achieve a better school performance.  Increasing the level of achievement and promoting the use of technology as a tool, strengthens and expands the educational options to make learning relevant.  The coordination carried out in the library and the use of technology tools to attract the attention of students, facilitated the learning process.
The expansion of information services increased the number of users who use the library, taking their reading and information search skills to another level and helping improve their academic performance.  Through the acquisition of computers, sound system and technology in general, the students were directed to learn within the world they know, the cyber and electronic world.  In addition, the school community: teachers, students and parents or guardians had the opportunity to be trained in the proper use of the equipment and develop effective skills in the teaching-learning process.  In this way, the students were helped to overcome their deficiencies in individual and group learning.  The library is located in an accessible area and serves a school community that lives in urban and rural areas.  Many of these people do not have access to the internet and live below the poverty level.  For these reasons we implemented the project entitled: “Transforming knowledge with digital literacy” strengthening the capacities of our students and enriching the teaching-learning process.

Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
The students were more motivated to work by including the technological equipment. A vast majority increased their knowledge in the use of software such as Publisher and Power Point.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
These results show us that we must change the traditional teaching methods and focus on providing technological equipment that encourages the creativity and curiosity of the students.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
I learned that our students know about technology but do not master the use of it to apply it in their academic tasks. It is important to continue educating them and helping them learn how they can take advantage of all these tools that are available to them and keep helping them improve their learning.
