Title: Database acquisition
Narrative: The Indiana State Library continued to provide free statewide access to a wide array of academic databases and online resources.

A new contract between Indiana State Library and EBSCO Information Services started 7/1/2020, with 86 databases made available to Indiana residents. The new package replaced the previous database package provided by Gale Cengage and increased access to EBSCO's top academic resources, including including the leading multidisciplinary database Academic Search® Complete™. Other changes include improved access to Academic Search Complete, Communications and Mass Media Complete, and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, and Learning Express, which contains resume and career preparation help. Titles include Academic Search Premier, Health Source, Biography in Context, Teachingbooks.net, Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center, the Testing and Education Resource Center (TERC), Rosetta Stone, and dozens more. Two school-specific e-book collections, eBook K-8 Collection and eBook High School Collection, were also added.
Intent: Improve users’ ability to discover information resources.

Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
INSPIRE databases are available to all 6.6 million Indiana residents. They can be accessed from any device base on IP authentication. The statewide administration of a shared collection of databases greatly reduces the cost and burden on public, academic, and school libraries to provide database services. The ISL INSPIRE Advisory Committee met regularly to review content, usage, statistics, and promotion.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
Librarians around the state continue to discover the wealth of resources available to them and their patrons. As funding for individual library database subscriptions dissipates, the state has been able to sustain a well-rounded statewide collection at no cost to the libraries or individuals.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
Promotion and training are key to growing database usage. A "train the trainer" approach, especially in K-12 populations, has been an effective way to teach librarians about the tool.
