State Project Code: II-6-18; II-7-19
Start Date: 07/01/2018
End Date: 09/30/2019
Abstract: The purpose of this project is to support the Ohio Web Library, which addresses the need for electronic information to support patrons using school, public, and academic libraries. The three statewide information network providers (INFOhio, OPLIN, and OhioLINK) have come together to provide a common set of reference resources to every user of every school, public or academic library in Ohio that will be accessible within the library, at home, or at work.

Grant II-6-19 runs July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019.  Grant II-7-19 runs July 1, 2019 - September 30, 2019.  This is an effort to avoid a gap in service and to best utilize our IMLS funds. Data provided for this report is for the period of October 1, 2018 - September 30, 2019.

Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
Funding a statewide Ohio Web Library collection has the impact of positively and simultaneously affecting school, public, and higher education libraries by the most cost-effective means possible. Users across the state use the suite of databases for business, educational, and personal use. The most dramatic benefit is seen across the breadth of primary and secondary schools, which historically have the most inadequate funding, and where it is essential to start to build a citizenry capable of consuming and creating information. In July of 2018, the suite of resources was refreshed to match the needs of Ohio residents. This revamped Ohio Web Library contains the following databases: Chilton Library, EBSCOhost, Kids INFOBits, Oxford Research Encyclopedia, Transparent Language Online, Very Short Introductions, and Wordl Book Online (including World Book Early World of Learning).
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
The Ohio Web Library: 1. ensures that every Ohio resident has access to reliable information for academic and personal research; 2. ensures that schools and universities have the tools needed to build a citizenry capable of consuming and creating information; and 3. saves Ohio taxpayers millions of dollars annually by taking advantage of economies of scale.
