Title: Statewide Library Resources
Narrative: Sixteen database subscriptions comprise the statewide library resources. The following resources are from EBSCO:
- Alt HealthWatch provides alternative consumer health information.
- Points of View Reference Center provides information and opinions on social issues.
- Business Source Elite offers access to company profiles and small business resources.
- NoveList Plus and K-8 help readers of all ages find new books based on reading interest or topics.
- Consumer Health Complete provides fact sheets, drug information, procedure discriptions, and other medical information.
- Newspaper Source allows searchers to access national and international newspaper articles.
- Primary Search provides access to primary resource documents, transcripts, and videos for researchers.
- Health Source/Nursing Academic Edition supports academic nursing programs.
- Legal Information reference center proves access to legal publications and forms for citizens and small businesses.
The World Book Online subscription is tiered, so the resource grows with the learner throughout his or her academic career.
Niche Academy provides video tutorials on how to use the resources in the statewide package and popular services, like Gmail and Pinterest.
The usage statistics gathered in the 2017 fiscal year was used as the baseline for the 2018-2022 reporting period. Those numbers were
- EBSCO
- 9,219,926 sessions
- 11,477,560 searches
- 5,907,166 full-text articles viewed
- World Book Online
- 39,282 sessions
- 49,276 searches
- 322,013 content views
- Niche Academy Statewide Resources
The 2018 fiscal year saw decreases across the board, except for Niche Academy:
- EBSCO
- 8,503,942 sessions
- 11,332,792 searches
- 6,625,886 full-text articles viewed
- World Book Online
- 38,009 sessions
- 39,929 searches
- 239,239 content views
- Niche Academy Statewide Resources
The EDS search box has played a small factor in the number of searches decreasing in the EBSCO resources. Patrons have reported that using the search box has made it easier to locate articles in the databases. This anecdotal information explains why the sessions dropped, too. Searchers are not logging in to separate databases to search for information.
Intent: Improve users’ ability to obtain and/or use information resources.
