Title: Self-Service Scanning, Faxing, and Printing NOW @ Your Library!
State Project Code: 2016-0170-10
Start Date: 05/20/2016
End Date: 08/04/2017
Abstract: The goal of this project was to provide technology to meet customers' needs to privately scan, fax, and print documents at Sedona Public Library in the Village. Community members benefit because the library now has 21st century technology that makes scanning, printing, and faxing convenient, affordable and accessible for the community. This technology ensures that customers have private access to their documents: tax forms, bank statements, loan applications, job applications, medical forms, insurance forms, travel documents, etc. This project meets the needs for these important services in a rural community.

Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
Customers use this technology on a daily basis for a variety of reasons. When surveyed about this technology, 90% of users said they would very likely recommend the Library Document Station (LDS) to someone. Once customers use the LDS, they often become independent users. Customers who are proficient using the LDS are proud of their mastery of this technology and will provide assistance to other customers.
Please briefly describe the importance of these outcomes and findings for future program planning:
Customers are empowered to use the technology and often assist other customers when staff is not available. Since customers handle their own documents from start to finish, this has freed up time for staff and library volunteers to attend to other library duties.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
Before the project begins, get a support team in place. Implementing this project involved the following: IT Manager, Administrative Services Manager, Library Manager and Assistant, and library volunteers. The coin/bill acceptor from Envisionware allows customers to be self-sufficient; however, the equipment can be a bit tricky when it comes to emptying coins and resetting the meters. The final outcome is that this technology is best for the customers!
