Abstract: Technology Mini-Grant grants provide funds for technology and automation related equipment to improve the library’s network infrastructure.  The Barry-Lawrence Regional Library replaced 18 desktop computers and upgraded to LCD monitors. The update to the computer systems increased staff productivity and services provided to patrons.

Title: Procurement
Narrative: The library replaced 18 aging desktop computer systems, and upgraded to LCD monitors. All equipment was installed at the 10 branch locations with no issues.

List any important outcomes or findings not previously reported:
The library preformed a survey before and after installation. Using the library's computers when performing job-related tasks and assisting customers indicated that, those "very satisfied" increased from 22.2% to 61.5% in the follow-up survey. When asked about the speed of the computers and accessibility to additional functions and software, those "very satisfied" increased from 22.2% to 53.8% in the follow-up survey. Staff reported in the survey that the new computers are quicker, provide better service to customers and that there are fewer patrons complaints.

Information gathered relating to the updates shows that the availability of public computers at the library continues to be vital to the community. Providing free access to public computers at the library is important in that it assists individuals in reaching their personal, professional and educational goals.
Explain one or two of the most significant lessons learned for others wanting to adopt any facets of this project:
Staff report that the new equipment has resolved technology issues, resulting in improved customer service. Meeting patron needs, demands and expectations helps the library stay relevant to the community.
