Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important findings or outcomes from your project:
1. The sign language training workshops were successful and participants were really satisfied. 2. The library has improved the special services that are being offered to persons with disabilities, including the deaf. 3. Users with disabilities are satisfied with the library services.
Please briefly describe importance of findings:
It is very important for the library to provide excellent service for persons with disabilities, as they deserve. They, too, as well as the rest of the community, deserve to receive quality education and benefit from the best library service that can be offered.
What methods did you use to determine your findings? Check all that apply:
Participant Observation
Other
Based on outputs, outcomes and/or other results, explain any significant lessons learned from these findings for either the SLAA or others in the LIS field:
Persons with disabilities, including deaf persons, usually don’t receive the best library service they deserve. It is mandatory that the different barriers they confront to receive the best library service be eliminated and more efforts made towards the attainment of special places where they can nurture their intellect and culture in a safe and adequate environment like a library.
Do you anticipate continuing this project after the current reporting period ends:
Yes
Do you anticipate any change in level of effort:
Yes: The Sign Language training will be continued with the same contact hours for the benefit of these special users. In the future, the project will be extended for blind and other persons with visual problems, so they too, may have easy access to technology.
Do you anticipate any change in the project's scope:
Yes: Even though the library is considering other source of funding to continue the project, the objective is to impact other persons with disabilities, so they have full access to technology without barriers that will limit them to reach their goals.
Do you anticipate any other changes in the project:
Yes: Construct an easy access ramp for persons with disabilities.
