Digital Production Lab

Voiceover Studio

Main Production Studio

The Studio Lab offers programs for all ages and reservation space for customers ages 13 and older. Currently, time slots are limited to band practice, video shoots, and photo shoots after attending an orientation. Since its opening, the Studio Lab has been fully booked.  Demand for studio space continues to grow and outweigh slots available.  The Library is working to provide additional hours to residents for this free resource.

Project Outcomes
Project Outcomes
List any important findings or outcomes from your project:
Equipment purchased has proved useful to DC Public Library patrons. Since its launch, the Studio Lab has been booked to capacity. District residents are in great need of free studio space for band practice, recording, and video and photo shoots. The Library is working to find ways to extend hours for this valuable resource.
Please briefly describe importance of findings:
The use of the equipment allows DC Public Library to tailor programs offered by the Studio Lab. The Studio Lab can provide patrons with much needed free access to this necessary, though expensive equipment to large numbers of District residents as they continue their work in the creative economy -- recording music, practicing, and producing professional-level videos and photographs.
What methods did you use to determine your findings? Check all that apply:
Participant Observation
Based on outputs, outcomes and/or other results, explain any significant lessons learned from these findings for either the SLAA or others in the LIS field:
Demand for these services continues to grow. The Library needs to determine how best to meet this demand.
