Abstract:

The three remaining libraries in Fayette County (German-Masontown, Brownsville and Carnegie Free Library in Connellsville) are being migrated onto a multi-county ILS that exists within the Washington District (Washington, Greene & Fayette Counties).

Library users in Fayette County will now have full access to the resources and materials of 20 public libraries; online access to their user accounts; ability to place holds and renew items online. 

        Expected benefits include:  

  •  Complete & instant access to a shared library catalog of over 800,000 items, 24/7
  •  Membership in a "one library card" network of 20 member libraries
  •  Increased accessibility of materials through the district's delivery service
  •  Increased visibility of public libraries throughout the entire region
  •  Library cost savings and efficiencies

State Goal: Facilitate the statewide expansion of electronic and physical linkages to coordinate and improve delivery of resources.

Please briefly describe importance of findings:
Each of the 3 libraries has communicated the project to their users. They are excited to be part of the consortium and have access to a broader and deeper collection of materials. As part of this project, the 3 libraries will have access to library services for patrons. More equitable level of library services. Ability to borrow and receive an item with in a few days vs. a few weeks. Users want a WAGGIN card because of the increased level of services it provides.
