Abstract: Annie Halenbake Ross Library and one of its branches, Friendship Community Library, the LH Branch of the American Association of University Women, the  Clinton County PS Cooperative Extension/4-H and Lock Haven YMCA partnered to hold classes on Robotics for the youth of Clinton County for the purpose of providing new technological experiences and developing life long skills of working in teams, following instructions and building communication skills.  
State Goal: Create opportunities for libraries to enhance their capacity to provide 21st Century resources, services and programs to their communities.

Activity Details
Title: Youth and Robotics Program
Narrative: Six programs were held at 5 locations in Clinton County. The first class involved learning how to build a Legos Robot.  The remaining weeks were focused on learning various programs and tasks for the robot to perform, such as following a black line, going forward and stopping when touching a wall, and going forward, stopping, reversing and returning.  In addition, participants learned how to manipulate the robot arms to pick up a fence, knock down an item, use color and light sensors and complete a series of tasks.

Narrative: Youth completed a pre/post survey to rate how their attitudes changed in communication with others and in their choices and the connections they made over the six weeks.  Weekly surveys were completed on the value of the sessions and to inquire about what they learned.  The survey also asked for suggestions for class improvements.

Libraries reached out to 51 non-library users. Over 85% of youth participating felt the program was well worth their time and wanted more time 80% of youth attended each session 80% youth worked in pairs

These 51 non-library users experienced various services available to them. Tweens-teens found a library program that interested them. Youth interested in learning next programming task Youth learned importance of cooperation
